Time is part of the making.
It’s what brings the two houses together. The belief that good things are worth taking your time.
Time becomes part of what is made. Hours of handwork go into each garment, from the first stitch to the final detail, with gold worked into the facing, buttonhole and the lining. It is a process that cannot be hurried, with each detail taking its own time. The same patience is found in an Aberfeldy 21, that leaves the atelier alongside the finished commission. Matured slowly over the years in the cask, developing the depth and character that only comes with time.

Vitale Barberis Canonico, Super 110s. Full canvas suits, drafted individually.
Gold is worked by hand into the cuff buttonholes and the lining of the jacket, finished with a pocket square made for the commissioned look.

The edition
Twenty-one commissions, each one made once.
Each garment carries its number and the name of the man it was cut for, stitched into the lining of the suit. The twenty-first suit marks the end of the commission.

The commission unfolds over three visits to the atelier.
The commission starts with a conversation about how you dress, what you like, and what you are looking for. Thirty-five measurements are then taken to understand your proportions and establish the pattern. The Vitale Barberis Canonico cloth follows, shaped around your choice and the way you want the garment to sit.
The second visit is when the unfinished garment comes together on you. It is chalked, opened up, tried on, and adjusted carefully where needed before the final stitching begins. By the third, the piece is ready, named, numbered and boxed by hand, with an Aberfeldy 21 packed in alongside it.

Belted, soft-shouldered. Made to age well.
The Safari Jacket
A soft-shouldered, belted safari jacket with four patch pockets and a buckle fastening, made in Vitale Barberis Canonico Flannel that ages beautifully with time. Gold is worked by hand into the collar and inside the jacket.
